Aviano Middle High School hosts Italian students for cultural exchange
AVIANO, Italy — Aviano Middle High School welcomed high school students from ITST J.F. Kennedy of Pordenone on Friday, Feb. 6, as part of an ongoing cultural exchange aimed at strengthening cross-cultural understanding and language learning between American and Italian students.
During the visit, Italian students experienced a typical school day at Aviano Middle High School. The students toured the campus, joined Aviano students in classrooms, and participated in small-group activities designed to encourage conversation and collaboration. The group also shared lunch together in the school cafeteria, providing an opportunity for informal conversation and cultural exchange.
The experience allowed Aviano students to practice their language skills in authentic settings while giving visiting students a firsthand look at an American high school environment.
Italian teacher Kristin Fisher Brunetti said the exchange offers students much more than a one-day visit.
“It provides meaningful opportunities for students to build communication skills and cultural awareness,” Brunetti said. “These experiences often lead to long-lasting friendships and a deeper appreciation for different cultures.”
Brunetti also expressed appreciation to the Aviano faculty, staff, and students who helped support the visit and create a welcoming environment for the Italian guests.
School leaders said partnerships with local Italian schools continue to strengthen community relationships while enriching educational opportunities for students on both sides of the exchange.
