AMHS Weekly Newsletter February 7, 2025

Dear Saints Family,

Make Kindness the Norm.

Dear Families,

We are excited to share that next week, AMHS is celebrating Random Acts of Kindness Week, running from February 9–15, with Random Acts of Kindness Day on Monday, February 17. This is a wonderful opportunity to inspire students to join us in the mission to #MakeKindnessTheNorm every day.

The week kicks off with a special event on Monday, where students will explore the transformative power of kindness and learn practical ways to incorporate compassion and empathy into their daily lives. As part of this activity, students will collaborate on crafting uplifting messages and notes filled with words of encouragement, which will be proudly displayed throughout our school to inspire collaboration and positivity.

To extend this movement beyond the week, we are launching an exciting new initiative: “Saints Shout Outs.” Both students and staff are encouraged to submit shoutouts whenever they witness random acts of kindness throughout the school. These shoutouts will be featured on our hallways, creating a living celebration of compassion and goodwill within our community.

In addition, each month we will take time to recognize and celebrate students who consistently demonstrate kindness, compassion, and empathy, helping make our school a better place for everyone.

We encourage you to join us in this meaningful effort by supporting your student as they seek to #MakeKindnessTheNorm, both at school and at home. Let’s inspire one another to do what we can, where we are, with what we have.

Thank you for your partnership in fostering kindness, empathy, and positivity in our school community.

Attention Athletes!

Please make sure you have a valid sports physical for the duration of the spring sports season.  Practices start February 24.  You must also have submitted a signed athlete packet to the office during this school year to participate in spring sports.  You can obtain a packet from the office or from your coach.

DoDEA Teacher of the Year – Europe South District

We are excited to announce that the nomination period for the District Teacher of the Year (TOY) for Europe South award, a prestigious award that honors our district's most dedicated and inspiring teachers, will start on January 6, 2025, and end on February 14, 2025. The DoDEA TOY Program recognizes teachers who have made a positive difference in their students' lives, schools, and communities.

Parents, you are invited to nominate a teacher who has made a significant impact on their child’s educational experience and deserves recognition. Whether the teacher has helped your child overcome a challenge, fostered curiosity, or supported the achievement of their goals, we encourage you to share your story.

Students, you also have the opportunity to nominate a teacher who has inspired and positively influenced their academic journey. If a teacher has played a pivotal role in helping you overcome obstacles, igniting your curiosity, or supporting the pursuit of your goals, we welcome your nomination.

Please visit the DoDEA TOY Website at http://www.dodea.edu/teachers/teacherofyear.cfm to submit your nomination and complete the online form. Do not miss this opportunity to express your gratitude and appreciation for a teacher who has made a difference!

Thank you for your participation and support of this important program. We look forward to receiving your nomination!

Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!

Lost and Found

Our lost and found, located in the foyer, is currently full of jackets, water bottles, and other items. Please encourage your child to check for any missing belongings. Unclaimed items will be donated by the end of January. We hope to reunite these items with their owners before they are donated.

Thank you for your continued support. Together, we are Saints Strong!
